Our Approach

We work with others on complex social problems that can only be solved by alternative ways of thinking and organizing. These projects challenge existing mindsets and open the potential for system transformation.

OUR INTEREST & VALUES

We work with others on complex social problems that can only be solved by alternative thinking and organizing. These projects challenge existing mindsets and open the potential for system transformation. Why do we do this work? We are inherently curious about how things work and how they might be more equitably organized. We try to look for areas that are largely unexplored and neglected and spend time commissioning research in issues that challenge human rights. We are motivated by a set of values and beliefs including equality, justice, access to knowledge, and the power of collaboration.

ROLES

One role we play is as a catalyst - to bring new attention, energy, creativity and resources to a complex issue so that brighter minds than ours generate more solutions to transform systems. Sometimes this involves just helping people connect - other times it is to invest heavily in a practical example that raises system questions and invites wider participation. We do some of our best work when working with social entrepreneurs at key transition points - where their ideas and plans are not fully developed. We work together to co-create a plan to help them succeed.
